Speakers
Steve Ressler - Founder & President, GovLoop
Steve is the Founder and President of GovLoop.com, the “Knowledge Network for Government” which connects and fosters collaboration among over 60,000 members of the government community. On GovLoop, members use social media such as blogs, videos, and forums to discuss best practices and share ideas on improving government.
Mr. Ressler is a 3rd generation public sector leader and spent 6 years in roles at Social Security Administration, Department of Education, Department of Homeland Security Inspector General, and DHS Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. He has won the 2010 GovTech Top 25 Doers, Dreamers, and Drivers Award, the 2007 and 2009 Federal 100 Award, and the 2009 AFCEA Bethesda Social Media Award. Additionally, he has been featured in many publications and conferences including the Washington Post, Harvard Kennedy School, World Economic Forum, Wall Street Journal, Fox News, Huffington Post, among others.
Mr. Ressler is also the co-founder of Young Government Leaders (YGL), a professional organization of over 2,000 government employees across the U.S. He is a Master's graduate from the University of Pennsylvania where he received the Department of Homeland Security Fellowship. When not in D.C., he spends his time with his wife and two cats in Tampa, Florida.
Tim Fullerton - Director of Digital Strategy, U.S. Department of the Interior
Tim Fullerton currently serves as the Director of Digital Strategy at the U.S. Department of the Interior. In this role, he serves as the Secretary’s senior advisor for Digital Strategy and manage all Digital staff, consultants and the DOI-wide Web Leadership Council. Tim was tasked by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar to lead the digital portion of a new White House initiative to promote travel and tourism within the United States. In this role, he leads an inter-agency team developing digital strategies around increasing visitation to America’s public lands.
Prior to Interior, Tim worked for former Vice President Al Gore’s the Alliance for Climate Protection, where he managed the organizations 2 million person email list, redesigned the organizations websites (which won a Webby, Silver Addy, and a 2010 Communicators award) and helped developed the Repower America Wall, where ordinary Americas, politicians and celebrities added video messages about why they supported action on climate change.
Darryl J. Madden - Director, Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Ready Campaign for Emergency Preparedness
Launched in February 2003, Ready is a national public service advertising campaign designed to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to emergencies including natural and man-made disasters. The goal to get the public involved and ultimately to increase the level of resiliency and preparedness across the nation.
Prior to assuming the leadership post in Ready he served in the agency’s Public Affairs Division as a Strategic Communications Specialist assigned to the Response and Recovery Directorate where he developed presentations on programs, policies, functions, and research related to the agency bureau focused to provide Federal disaster response capabilities needed to save lives, reduce suffering, and protect property in communities throughout the Nation overwhelmed by the impact of a presidentially-declared disasters.
Scott Burns - CEO & co-Founder, GovDelivery
Scott co-founded GovDelivery in a St. Paul basement and is the company's CEO.In 2006, Scott was recognized as one of five Emerging Leaders by Twin Cities Business Magazine and received the “Forty Under 40” recognition from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.In 2008, he was one of 25 people in the private sector to be named to Federal Computer Week's Federal 100, a list that recognizes individuals who significantly influence how federal government uses information technology. In 2011, Twin Cities Business Magazine named Scott one of “200 Minnesotans You Should Know”. Scott serves on the boards of the St. Paul Public Schools Foundation, the Friends of the St. Paul Libraries, the Executive Committee of the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce and loyalty marketing firm, Tecmark. Scott received a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College in economics and environmental studies where he skied for Dartmouth’s NCAA Division I alpine ski team. He was born and raised in Duluth.
